They are tried and proven to be the most effective at controlling the suspect/ combatant with soft empty hand techniques, using the least force necessary. They will learn how to apply real-world physical use of force naturally by training hands-on with their partners of all different sizes and strengths.
With that control and de-escalation verbiage, the officer will reduce risk to both parties involved. Attendees will review and explain U.S. Supreme Court Cases Graham v. Connor and Tennessee v. Garner. Attendees will be able to perform, demonstrate, and teach appropriate techniques, given the level of force/ resistance they meet.
This course offers the greatest number of reps and value for the attendees and their departments. The officer attending will be pushed physically and mentally for five days to better prepare them for not only use of force situations but avoidance through de-escalation and confidence.
Preemptive/ reactive striking, takedown offense and defense, ground control, escapes, and heavy emphasis on weapon retention are repped beyond imagination. Practice until you can't get it wrong, and safety are the goals in this course, so the prospective instructor can be best prepared to share what they learned and deconflict the "Use of Forces" they face.
A significant benefit of the JJLE course is that the trainer builds their communication and teaching skills with others in the class, better preparing them for "force multiplying" in their departments once they write their courses.
Several municipalities have adopted this course, significantly reducing injury to subjects and officers. Investing in the officer through this course will substantially drop your department's use of force liabilities.
This is the best out of any others in the continental United States for Law Enforcement "Train the Trainer" courses.
