About Combatant Tactics
My name is Steve Moellering and I was born in St. Charles Missouri in 1985. I was raised in St. Louis county until I graduated from Lindbergh High School.
Growing up, I liked being outdoors learning how to shoot from my dad, grandpa, uncle and my cousin who was a soldier. They taught me how to hunt, fish, and value life. I played baseball and wrestled through school and by the time I graduated, I had learned to work hard, respect my elders, and respect a man in uniform.
After graduation, I pursued learning Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as I wanted to really learn how to defend myself and stay in shape. I also took up deeper training in firearms. My cousin who served in the Marine Corps, then transferred to the Army and ultimately graduated Special Forces A&S and the Q-course ultimately being assigned to the 20th Special Forces Group was my influence.
Over the past several years I’ve trained in pistol and carbine and briefly covered the basics of CQB and vehicle defense. While staying consistent in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I achieved Black Belt in approx. 11 years. I have been holding at Brown belt in Judo for several years due to the time required to commit and earn Black.
My efforts led me to contract for a premier Military Defense Contractor in enhancing the expert skills of Special Operations Units for the DOD in offensive, defensive, combat and non combat oriented hand to hand fighting. That combined with respect for law, community and the amazing law enforcement friends I have has encouraged me to share what I’ve learned with our local officers.
I have had many students now at Gracie Barra O’Fallon where I teach full time, whom are in law enforcement. Each and every one of them has pushed me to develop a curriculum to help enhance and compliment the current training of law enforcement.
Since, I have worked for several municipalities and I feel that I have a lot to offer in terms of teaching self defense while maintaining the integrity of the force continuum. I want both citizens and law enforcement to be safer and I believe that I can help with that.
“Defensive tactics is one area of their job that I can help with and if it saves someone’s life, then I’ve achieved my goal.”
